Dr. Goldstein joined the faculty in 1968, and served as Chair of SF State’s Academic Senate (1980-82) and CSU’s Academic Senate (1984-1987), Human Sexuality Studies Program co-founder, Acting Director of Research and Professional Development (1987-1991), Faculty Trustee (1991-1998), CSU Trustee Emeritus (2003-Present), Professor and Curriculum Committee and Board Member for the Osher Life Long Learning Program (2003-Present).  From 1998-2003, Dr. Goldstein was Provost, Chief Academic Officer and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Sonoma State University.

Dr. Goldstein’s awards are numerous including: Champion of Sexual Literacy Award (2006) by SF State’s National Sexuality Resource Center, an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters (2003) from the California State University Board of Trustees and Sonoma State  University Faculty, the President’s Medal for Outstanding Service to the CSU conferred by SF State President Robert Corrigan (2003), Trustee of the Year (1996), and Outstanding Educator of America (1972 and 1975).

SF State’s 1986 Alumnus of the Year, Dr. Goldstein’s photo is displayed on the Alumni Association’s Wall of Fame.
